How much does a plumbing renovation cost?

The following information is a guideline for how much some plumbing jobs cost

Firstly the plumbing in a new build or renovation typically has 2 stages, the “Pre-pipe” & “Fit-off” stages.

Pre-pipe is completed once the framework of a building is complete. This is all the internal components inside the walls like water and waste pipework. This also includes installing any in wall toilet cisterns or mixers. As the client you need to know what products will be installed and a plan of where you want things for us to complete this stage.

Fit-off is completed once walls and floors (in the areas to have plumbing components) are lined and finished to their final stages. This is where we install all of the fixtures like toilets, shower rails & mixers, basins etc.

Pre-pipe stage cost example:

Water and waste pipework run back to the main water and waste lines for the building, including installation typically costs $1000 per plumbed item. With an additional $1000 for the main water & waste line in a typically sized dwelling.
Using the above guideline a house’s pipework with 1 hot water source, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen & 1 laundry would cost $8,000

Using these figures and fixture examples we can work out that a renovation or new build to do the entire houses plumbing including a hot water source and hose for:

• 1.5x bathrooms,1 kitchen & laundry: $10,000 Pre pipe + $17,047.48 Fit off  
  • Total $27,047.48 
• 1x    bathroom,1 kitchen & laundry:    $8,000 Pre pipe + $14,355.48 Fit off 
  • Total $22,355.48
